Letter from the President

Dear Customer:

I am Kevin Byerly, one of the few fortunate people who has been able to guide a family owned and operated Colorado business into the third generation. Lehrer's Flowers is in its third generation with the success of a continuing operation and the celebration of our "60th" anniversary.

I am now the President and Owner of Lehrer's Flowers and through the generations, Lehrer's has become involved in several facets of the floral industry. Currently Lehrer's has expanded to include a local wholesale division, greenhouse division, and printing and office supply warehouse.

The history of Lehrer's is a Colorado business success story. My Grandfather, John Byerly, purchased Lehrer's in the summer of 1949. Upon returning from World War II, my Grandfather decided that he wanted to move to California from his native state of North Dakota. He packed up with his High School Sweetheart, Ida (who by this time was his Wife) and $10,000.00 in savings and drove away. On the way to their destination in San Diego, they arrived in the Rocky Mountains of Denver. Once they arrived in Denver, my Grandfather instantly fell in love with everything about this fantastic city. At this point they decided to go no further. They would no longer be heading to San Diego. They would settle right here in the Denver area.

Knowing that he wanted to own his own business, he sought out a business realtor. The realtor was amused and chuckled at the small amount of money that Grandfather had to invest. He had enough money to buy a little flower shop by the name of Lehrer's Flowers. My Grandfather purchased the flower shop for a grand total of $7,000.00, unfortunately he did not know a carnation from a rose. He did know that he had one delivery truck, a flower shop, six employees and the inspiration to make the business succeed.

Over the years, Lehrer's has grown into a company with a fleet of over eighty vans, 200 employees, and a variety of divisions, mainly within the industry. Lehrer's has come a long way since 1949, but at the heart of it, is still the Byerly family and Colorado.

Grandfather, John Byerly, and his son (my father), David Byerly, have passed away but their story will continue on as I carry on what began 60 years ago.

Lehrer's is not only a family business success story, but a Colorado story as well. We hope that you will find as much pleasure in reading its history as we do operating it. If you have any questions regarding the company, please contact me at 303-433-6892 ext. 242.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Kevin Byerly - President
